The Houston Rockets are surprising everyone in the NBA by moving into play-in territory while the Golden State Warriors falter.
Although the Rockets’ championship odds are still +100000 (1,000-1) at some sportsbooks, like ESPN BET, and down to +50000 at others, not many bettors are placing their money on the team.
As for Ime Udoka’s team, they are listed at +50000, the same odds as the Chicago Bulls (35-38), Atlanta Hawks (33-39), and Utah Jazz (29-44). “We haven’t seen much interest in the Houston Rockets to win the NBA Championship,” said Kevin Hennessy of Fanatics Sportsbook.
The Hawks and Bulls are most likely to finish in ninth and tenth place in the Eastern Conference. The Jazz have mathematically lost their chance to compete in the postseason.
The Rockets are now 37-35, one half-game behind the Warriors in 10th place. Their most recent triumph, a 132-126 road triumph over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night, was among their best of the run.
FanDuel spokesperson Rachel Spraker stated, “Houston sits at +75000 to win the title.” The Rockets have received 1% of bets and less than 0.5 percent of handle in terms of the market share that FanDuel has taken in.
“Nothing to share in terms of large wagers at this time for either conference title or championship,” Spraker stated.
Representative John Ewing of BetMGM stated: “We have not seen that much interest in betting on the Rockets.” There are 0.4 percent (the fifth fewest) and 1.2 percent (the second fewest) of bets on the Rockets to win the championship and the game, respectively, at that sportsbook.
Double what is on the line at Caesars, ESPN BET puts the Rockets at +100000 to win the championship. At +14000, BetRivers lists them.
With one game remaining in the season series on Thursday, April 4, Golden State leads Houston 2-0 and holds the tiebreaker.
