The New York Jets may have missed out on Jadeveon Clowney, but they will try to sign six-time Pro Bowler Calais Campbell -a seasoned veteran.
Clowney had productive discussions with the Jets, but chose to put pen-to-paper on a two-year contract with the Carolina Panthers.
Now the Jets lack a reliable pass rusher as a result. Justin Fried of The Jet Press provided the Jets with a list of more free agents to consider.
Before Campbell signed a contract with the Falcons last offseason, Fried stated that the Jets expressed interest in signing him. The Jets should try again to sign Campbell if he is willing to play another season, which by all accounts he is.
The Jets should definitely try to sign Campbell again for a one-year contract, considering how interested they were in him the previous season.
Over the past ten years, Campbell has continuously been one of the league’s most powerful defensive players, despite switching teams a few times.

Campbell will have a great chance of being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame following such a legendary career. However, the Jets are a great fit for him if he decides to continue playing.
There Are Several Young Pass Rushers on the Jets
The Jets will need some big performances from some of their younger guys if they can’t get a proven pass rusher.

Twice in the past two seasons, the Jets have selected a pass rusher with their first-round choice. In 2022, Jermaine Johnson was selected 26th overall. After a lackluster rookie campaign, he made a splash this past season, with 7.5 sacks and a 37-yard interception return for a touchdown.
In 2024, Will McDonald IV anticipates a second-year increase along these lines. He was selected with the fifteenth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, but in just fifteen games, he managed to record three sacks and one forced fumble.
John Franklin-Myers is the oldest defensive end on the Jets team right now, having turned 27 just months ago. The Los Angeles Rams selected him in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, however he only played for one season before being waived and being acquired by the New York Jets.
