The debate surrounding Dax Hill seems to have reached a conclusion. After a challenging first season as a starting safety in 2023, the Cincinnati Bengals are shifting Hill to cornerback for the 2024 season, as confirmed by head coach Zac Taylor after the 2024 NFL Draft. This decision sheds light on the Bengals’ selection of Ole Miss safety Daijahn Anthony on Day 3 of the draft, initially seen as a crowded safety room.
However, with Hill now transitioning to cornerback, the dynamics have changed. Despite spending two seasons primarily as a safety, the Bengals believe Hill’s skill set is better suited for cornerback, opting for him as their first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft with hopes of him becoming the long-term replacement for Jessie Bates.
This move may seem audacious given Hill’s limited experience, especially considering his struggles at safety in 2023. Nonetheless, there’s optimism that this shift will prove beneficial for Hill and the team moving forward.
