On Thursday night, Dejounte Murray led the Atlanta Hawks to victory over the Boston Celtics.
A career-high 44 points were scored by Murray in Atlanta’s 123-122 overtime victory. In addition, he made 44 spectacular strokes, one of which, with time running down, won the match.
After the game, Murray acknowledged that he would have rather not taken as many shots in an on-court interview with Bally Sports. But he thought Kobe Bryant would have been pleased with him.
Naturally, Bryant was renowned for his seemingly endless scoring in games. Nonetheless, in certain of those contests, Kobe was far more effective. When the Los Angeles Lakers icon famously scored 81 points in a game in 2006, he took 46 shots.
Murray made 18 of his 44 attempts, including 6 of his 19 three-pointers. Even if he didn’t have the best night, the Hawks were able to win because he made his most crucial shot.
With the victory, the Hawks raised their record to 34-39 and gained a six-game advantage over the Brooklyn Nets for the Eastern Conference’s tenth and final postseason place.
