The Reds Community Fund (RCF) recently wrapped up a busy month of field renovations with the dedication of Marty Brennaman Field and its new turf infield at Juilfs Park in Anderson Township. Originally unveiled in 2008 and named after Reds Hall of Fame broadcaster Marty Brennaman, the field underwent significant upgrades in 2024, notably the addition of a turf infield. The recent ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the debut of the renovated field, the third one dedicated by RCF that month.
Marty Brennaman expressed his admiration for the field’s beauty and highlighted the practical benefits of the artificial turf, particularly in inclement weather. The event featured speeches from Brennaman, Reds President Phil Castellini, Executive Director of Anderson Parks District Ken Kushner, and Executive Director of RCF Charley Frank. Mark Schueler, an Anderson Township Little League coach and board member, along with Joe Zerhusen, the Reds public address announcer, also attended.

Funding for the project came from an Anderson Parks District capital levy passed in November 2023. Project partners included Anderson Township Youth Sports, the Juilfs Foundation, Kid Glove, and The Motz Group. Kushner emphasized the remarkable speed of the project’s completion, attributing it to community collaboration and a desire to make things happen.
The installation of the new infield on a previously renovated field underscores RCF’s commitment to ongoing investment in the community’s youth baseball infrastructure. Frank explained that this strategy involves maintaining and sustaining fields for future generations. The support from key partners, including Anderson Park District, ensured the project’s success.

Brennaman added a personal touch to the event by throwing a ceremonial first pitch before local teams christened the field. As a longstanding resident of Cincinnati, Brennaman has been involved in numerous community projects, including the annual Encore Technologies Marty Brennaman Golf Classic, which has raised over $3.2 million for RCF. However, the renovation of Marty Brennaman Field holds special significance for him, as it represents a connection to the community where he has lived since 1974.
