The Cincinnati Bengals announced on Friday the passing of Bill Tobin, a longstanding figure within the organization. Tobin, aged 83, had been associated with the Bengals from 2003 until 2022. Initially joining as a scouting consultant, he eventually rose to the position of player personnel executive for the team.
Bengals President Mike Brown spoke highly of Tobin, describing him as a true success story in the NFL and expressing personal fondness for him. Tobin was known for his keen eye for talent, and his assessments were highly respected within the organization.
His son, Duke Tobin, currently holds the position of director of player personnel for the Bengals. Prior to his tenure with the Bengals, Tobin held significant roles with the Chicago Bears as general manager from 1987 to 1992, and with the Indianapolis Colts from 1994 to 1996. He also served as the director of player personnel for the Detroit Lions from 2001 to 2002.
