Despite receiving offers elsewhere, including a lucrative two-year deal worth $15 million, Uche prioritized loyalty and familiarity over financial gain.
Re-signing with the Patriots for a modest one-year contract worth $3 million may seem surprising considering his impressive performance in the 2022 season, where he recorded 11.5 sacks. However, Uche emphasized the significance of feeling at home within the organization.

In a video shared on the team’s social media platforms, Uche expressed gratitude towards the Patriots for providing him with his NFL opportunity and likened the team to family.
He highlighted his admiration for coach Jerod Mayo and the positive direction in which he sees the team heading.
Despite being utilized as a situational player throughout his tenure with the Patriots, Uche remains optimistic about his future with the team. While he has accumulated 18.5 career sacks, a significant portion of his productivity occurred in a single season.
Looking ahead, Uche anticipates potentially seeing an increased role under Mayo and the new defensive coordinator, DeMarcus Covington. However, for the upcoming season, he is content with betting on himself and continuing to contribute to the Patriots’ defense.
