The Washington Mystics made an announcement on Tuesday revealing their latest roster adjustment. They have acquired a 2025 second round draft pick along with the contractual rights to center Bernadett Hatar from the Connecticut Sun. This exchange involved sending Queen Egbo to the Connecticut Sun.
Queen Egbo, who played 21 games for the Mystics in the previous season, averaged 6.2 points and 4.4 rebounds.
Bernadett Hatar, standing at 6’10, hails from Hungary. She has played a total of 13 games in the United States, featuring in seven games for the Indiana Fever in 2021 and six for the Sun in 2023. During the winter season, she competes for Sopron, Hungary’s prominent women’s professional team, which also participates regularly in Women’s EuroLeague. Additionally, Hatar is a key player for the Hungarian women’s national basketball team, a team recognized for its strength in Europe.
It remains uncertain whether Hatar will participate in the upcoming WNBA season. However, with Hungary not participating in the 2024 Olympics, she might find it more feasible to play in the United States this year, considering her national team won’t be competing in Paris. Looking ahead, the following year presents constraints due to Women’s EuroBasket commitments, potentially limiting her availability then.
