Adelaide, Australia, April 10 (ANI): Jack Clarke, the former chairman of Cricket Australia, has passed away at the age of 70 in Adelaide, Australia. Cricket Australia (CA) issued a statement expressing their condolences and mourning his loss.
Clarke’s tenure as chairman, spanning from 1999 to 2011, saw significant developments in Australian cricket, including the launch of the Big Bash League (BBL) and the initiation of the Argus review following Australia’s Ashes series defeat in 2010-11.
Aside from his leadership at CA, Clarke had a long-standing association with cricket in Adelaide, having played grade cricket for Glenelg and served as a director of the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) for 21 years. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded Honorary Life Membership of SACA in 2012. Mike Baird, the current chair of CA, praised Clarke’s immense contribution to Australian cricket, particularly highlighting his leadership in governance and high performance during challenging times.
SACA President Will Rayner also paid tribute to Clarke, emphasizing his unwavering dedication to South Australian Cricket and Cricket Australia.
