Former England captain Eoin Morgan has praised Arshdeep Singh following his impressive performance for PBKS in an IPL 2024 match against SRH, where he claimed four wickets.
Morgan highlighted Arshdeep’s ability to swing the ball both ways, likening it to the skills of renowned swing bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar. However, Morgan emphasized the importance of consistency in Arshdeep’s bowling displays.
Speaking on Jio Cinema after SRH’s victory over PBKS, Morgan acknowledged the pivotal role played by Arshdeep in setting up the game for PBKS. Despite SRH managing to achieve a competitive total, Arshdeep’s bowling performance was notable. However, Morgan stressed that Arshdeep faces pressure to maintain consistency due to his previous IPL outings and representing the Indian team.
The match between PBKS and SRH in Mullanpur witnessed a remarkable display from Arshdeep Singh as the leading bowler for PBKS. Despite SRH posting a challenging total, PBKS faced early setbacks, losing crucial wickets including that of captain Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan, along with other top-order batsmen, struggled to score freely against the SRH bowlers.
However, PBKS managed to stabilize their innings, thanks to a dynamic partnership between Shashank and Ashutosh. Their contribution propelled PBKS to a respectable total of 180/6. In the final over bowled by Jaydev Unadkat, despite needing 29 runs, PBKS came close to pulling off an improbable win, with Shashank and Ashutosh unleashing a flurry of boundaries and sixes.
Shashank’s unbeaten innings showcased his evolution from a promising batter in age-group cricket to a pace-bowling all-rounder. His aggressive stroke play, including five sixes and four fours, highlighted his potential as a match-winner for PBKS.
