During the January transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur opted to recall Djed Spence from his loan spell at Leeds United, sending him instead to Genoa on a temporary agreement with an option for a permanent transfer.

The right-back has featured in nine matches for Genoa in Serie A and expressed his satisfaction with life in Italy in an interview with Tuttosport last month. Recent reports from La Voce Rossoblu indicate that Spence is eager to secure a long-term deal with the Italian club.

Genoa’s sporting director, Marco Ottolini, pursued the 23-year-old vigorously during the winter transfer window, and his investment in the fullback has proven successful thus far. Ottolini has confirmed ongoing discussions with Tottenham regarding a potential transfer for Spence in the upcoming summer window.

Although Spence’s contract with Spurs runs until 2027, he is reportedly keen on extending his stay at Genoa beyond the current season. The Englishman is said to be “enthusiastic” about the prospect of permanently leaving Tottenham for Genoa, according to the report by La Voce Rossoblu. The club is hopeful that Genoa will secure his services permanently in the summer transfer window, given his strong performances thus far in 2024.
