Kansas City’s coach, Andy Reid, believes that Smith, along with wide receiver Hollywood Brown, could be valuable additions to the team in 2024, provided they can stay healthy and consistently perform on the field.
Smith’s NFL journey has been plagued by injuries. Since being drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2019, he’s struggled to maintain a consistent presence due to various setbacks. Despite his potential and versatility as a tight end, injuries have limited his playing time and effectiveness.
In his latest move to the Chiefs, Smith joins a team with established tight ends like Travis Kelce and Noah Gray. Kansas City’s offense frequently utilizes multiple tight end formations, indicating opportunities for Smith to contribute if he can stay healthy.

Smith’s contract with the Chiefs is a one-year deal worth $1,292,500, with a portion of it guaranteed. His NFL career statistics include 109 receptions, 973 yards, and 10 touchdowns in regular-season games, along with additional contributions in playoff matches.
