Throughout his first year, he sported jersey No. 81 and demonstrated his skills by catching 49 passes for 561 yards. In a time where young players often opt for unconventional numbers, Douglas’s choice of a classic number stands out.
Recent changes in NFL uniform regulations have made single-digit numbers more accessible to players, although securing them has become more competitive.
This season, Douglas is making a switch, transitioning from No. 81 to No. 3, as announced on his Instagram account. The decision to reclaim No. 3, which he wore during his time at Liberty University, seems fitting, especially since linebacker Mack Wilson Sr., the previous holder of that number for the Patriots, has moved on to the Arizona Cardinals in free agency.
