“My expectation is that Puni, being a rookie, may not immediately step into a starting role, but he’s likely to be the primary backup offensive lineman. Essentially, if one of the guards gets injured, he’ll be the first choice to fill in. Moreover, if the center, Jake Brendel, gets injured, Jon Feliciano will shift to center, opening up a spot for Puni at right guard.
Green, despite being 24 in November, isn’t viewed as a player who needs extensive development. He should be prepared to make meaningful contributions if the 49ers require him to do so, which they do.
