The destiny of teams like the Pistons and Wizards in the 2024 NBA Draft Lottery will be determined this Sunday in Chicago at 3 p.m. ET. The lottery results, managed by Ernst & Young, will be announced on ESPN shortly after, unveiling the draft order from No. 14 to No. 1 for the 2024 NBA Draft scheduled for June 26-27.

Leading the odds to win the lottery are the Pistons and Wizards with a 14.0% chance each, having had the worst and second-worst records in the 2023-24 NBA regular season. Following closely are the Charlotte Hornets with a 13.3% chance, the Portland Trail Blazers with 13.2%, and the San Antonio Spurs with 10.5%.

The odds progressively decrease for the subsequent teams, with Toronto, Memphis, Utah, Houston, and Atlanta each seeing a 1.5% drop, before dwindling to 2.0% for the Chicago Bulls, ranked 11th. The odds continue to decrease for the remaining teams, reaching 0.7% for the Golden State Warriors, whose pick is obligated to the Trail Blazers this year.

The lottery process involves drawing to determine the first four picks, followed by selections for positions five through 14 based on the inverse order of the teams’ regular season records. This process is conducted privately with representatives from the NBA, participating teams, and Ernst & Young. Ping-pong balls numbered 1 through 14 are placed in a lottery machine, and combinations are drawn to assign the picks.

As for the draft prospects, the top contenders include players like Alex Sarr, Stephon Castle, Nikola Topic, and others, whose rankings may evolve leading up to the NBA Draft.
