The Basketball Hall of Fame has revealed plans for a new exhibit titled “The Vault: Boston Celtics Unlocked,” set to debut in Springfield later this summer. This exhibit will be a rotating feature at the Hall of Fame, with the Boston Celtics being the inaugural focus.
President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame, John L. Doleva, expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with the Boston Celtics, citing their extensive representation in the Hall. The exhibit aims to pay homage to the Celtics’ storied history through a diverse collection of items donated by the team, individual collectors, and other contributors. The exhibit will be housed in a large space resembling a bank vault, symbolizing the preservation of Celtics history.
Highlighting the exhibit will be an assortment of authentic championship rings, including those won by iconic Celtics players such as Cousy, Jones, Auerbach, White, and Parish. Additionally, notable items like Ray Allen’s stained jersey from the 2008 Finals, Paul Pierce’s special St. Patrick’s Day jersey from 2006, Robert Parish’s 20,000-point ball, and Larry Bird’s clogs from his time with the Dream Team will be featured.
Paul Pierce and Jayson Tatum have provided voiceovers for parts of the exhibit, underscoring the significance of linking the Celtics’ illustrious past with their present achievements. Celtics President Rich Gotham praised the display for connecting generations of Celtics players and moments, from Red Auerbach and Bill Russell to current stars like Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
The Boston Celtics, as the most historic franchise in the NBA, will be the inaugural members of The Vault exhibit. Both the Celtics organization and the Basketball Hall of Fame anticipate that fans, both Celtics faithful and basketball enthusiasts alike, will appreciate the exhibit’s celebration of the team’s rich history.
