The Miami Dolphins’ quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, has yet to finalize a new contract with the team. However, despite this, his head coach believes it won’t affect his involvement in the team’s offseason program.
Tagovailoa is embarking on the fifth year of his rookie contract, having had the Dolphins exercise their option last year. Typically, players in his situation might refrain from participating in voluntary activities as part of ongoing negotiations. Speaking to reporters at the league meetings in Orlando, Mike McDaniel expressed confidence that Tagovailoa wouldn’t take that route.

McDaniel stated, “I do anticipate him joining OTAs due to my established rapport with Tua.” He further elaborated, “Over the past two years, I’ve witnessed Tua’s remarkable dedication to refining his skills throughout the season. This commitment to growth has been instrumental in shaping Tua into the player he is today—he’s always evolving, never stagnant, and consistently refining his craft.”
Dolphins General Manager Chris Grier mentioned last month that there have been encouraging talks regarding a new contract with Tagovailoa. However, he clarified that there’s no set timeline for reaching an agreement as the team prepares for the 2024 season.
