ESPN analyst and NFL free agent quarterback Robert Griffin III caused a stir in the football world recently by suggesting that USC Trojans standout quarterback Caleb Williams should strongly advise against being chosen as the Chicago Bears’ top pick in the upcoming draft.
Griffin further expounded on his bold opinion during the latest episode of his podcast, “RG3 and the Ones.”
Expressing his view, Griffin stated, “Williams should make it clear to the Bears that he’s not interested in joining their team. He should urge them not to select him.”
Griffin justified his stance by highlighting the lack of stability in the Bears’ front office, emphasizing the need for continuity alongside Williams. He suggested that extending head coach Matt Eberflus would be crucial for the quarterback’s development, asserting that Eberflus needs sufficient time to establish rapport and grow with Williams.
Notably, former quarterback turned NFL analyst Ryan Leaf echoed the sentiment that Williams could benefit from a period of observation and learning during his rookie season. However, recent actions by the Bears, such as trading Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers, indicate a different approach.
