On a memorable Friday night, the native of Oak Park, Illinois, channeled his college form from West Virginia University, playing a pivotal role in propelling the Bulls towards the NBA play-in tournament with a victory over the Washington Wizards, 129-127. Carter’s standout performance, scoring a season-high 20 points alongside 12 assists, was critical in the win.
Despite playing limited minutes throughout the season, Carter remained optimistic and ready to contribute whenever needed, embodying a team-first attitude. His resilience and readiness were evident as he spoke about his surprise at not playing as much but maintaining his readiness to “play ball.” In addition to his contributions on the court, Carter has embraced his role as a veteran leader, expressing his readiness to lead and his focus on helping the team win during his first media session with the Bulls.
Carter’s journey before joining the Bulls included stints with the Milwaukee Bucks, Brooklyn Nets, and Phoenix Suns, where he reached the NBA Finals, and he was originally drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2018. Throughout his tenure with the Bucks, he averaged 7.6 points per game and had moments of brilliance in limited starting roles.
