The Dallas Cowboys could be an attractive destination for one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation. According to CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson’s 2025 NFL mock draft, there’s a prediction that the Cowboys might pick University of Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe with the 26th overall selection in the upcoming draft.
Wilson believes Milroe’s exceptional athleticism and potential improvement could potentially elevate him into first-round consideration. If this projection holds true, Milroe would be among the sixth quarterbacks chosen in the 2025 NFL draft.
Milroe, aged 21, showcased his talents in his debut season as a starter, guiding the Alabama Crimson Tide to an impressive 12-1 regular-season record. Despite temporarily slipping from the Top 10 in the AP poll during the season, Milroe’s impactful performances, including 23 passing touchdowns and significant rushing yards, propelled his team to an unexpected College Football Playoff berth.

Standing at 6 feet 2 inches, Milroe’s style as an athletic quarterback draws comparisons to former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, known for his agility and big-play ability.
Should the Cowboys select Milroe in the first round, it’s likely to signal a transition away from Dak Prescott as the team’s primary quarterback. Prescott, who is approaching the final year of his contract, had a stellar season, earning runner-up in NFL MVP voting and leading the league in touchdown passes. However, his postseason track record and failure to advance past the divisional round in eight seasons as a starter could prompt the Cowboys to seek a new franchise quarterback if Prescott doesn’t deliver playoff success this year.
