In a competitive bid with the Texans, the Bengals emerged victorious, securing Rankins with a two-year, $26 million contract. According to Aaron Wilson, the Texans pushed the bidding to $12 million annually. Rankins’ addition is expected to significantly enhance the Bengals’ pass rush, given his impressive performance as an interior lineman.

Although Rankins’ signing is a positive step, the Bengals still need to bolster their depth in the interior defensive line. Their proactive approach in free agency demonstrates their awareness of this deficiency and their commitment to addressing it.
