Giannis Antetokounmpo will be absent for his second consecutive game as the Milwaukee Bucks face off against the top-ranking Boston Celtics on Wednesday evening.
A statement from the Bucks issued on Wednesday afternoon cited a left hamstring problem as the reason for the two-time MVP’s absence. Antetokounmpo was also sidelined in the Bucks’ recent 140-129 triumph over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday.

This marks Antetokounmpo’s fifth absence due to injury this season, during which the Bucks have managed a 3-1 record without him.
At 29 years old, Antetokounmpo currently stands third in the NBA for scoring, averaging 30.8 points per game. Additionally, he ranks sixth in rebounds, with 11.2 per game, and 15th in assists, with an average of 6.4 per game.
The upcoming game between the Celtics and Bucks will be their third encounter this season. The Celtics secured a 119-116 victory in Boston on November 22, while the Bucks dominated with a 135-102 win in Milwaukee on January 11. The teams are scheduled to face each other again on April 9, this time in Milwaukee.
Heading into the Wednesday night matchup, the Celtics hold a commanding 10-game lead over the Bucks in the Eastern Conference standings.
