SANFORD — Authorities reported on Monday that none of the ten individuals wounded during a shootout at a Florida restaurant over the weekend, which included Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell, sustained life-threatening injuries.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday during a gathering at the Cabana Live restaurant in Sanford, situated north of Orlando. According to Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma, the altercation sparked gunfire, first from a 16-year-old, followed by an unidentified male.
Lemma praised an unnamed security guard for swiftly tackling the 16-year-old shooter, preventing further harm. He stated in a news conference, “The heroic actions of this security officer took a very dangerous situation and made it less significant than it potentially could have been. He tackled this guy from behind and brought him to the ground.” Lemma emphasized the fortunate outcome, noting, “We are incredibly lucky that nobody is dead and there aren’t more injuries.”

Dell, a Daytona Beach native, found himself caught in the crossfire, receiving treatment for a minor wound before being discharged from the hospital on Sunday, as confirmed by the Texans. Details regarding Dell’s injury were not disclosed by the sheriff.
Authorities aim to engage with the unidentified gunman, whose actions may be protected under Florida’s self-defense laws. “This was a shootout that was going back and forth,” remarked Lemma.
