Rayshad Williams, a talented cornerback, has opted to join the Las Vegas Raiders over the Miami Dolphins due to a misunderstanding. Despite receiving a training camp invite from the Dolphins, Williams chose the Raiders after they offered him a full contract.
The mix-up arose when a key Dolphins executive, now with the Raiders, was contacted by Williams’ camp, mistakenly assuming they were still dealing with the Dolphins. Consequently, Williams’ camp reached out to the Dolphins for clarification, who then extended a camp invite. However, the Raiders offered a full contract, prompting Williams to sign with them.
Ron Hawthorne, Williams’ agent, explained to Barry Jackson that Williams’ camp believed they were communicating with the Dolphins’ executive, unaware of his departure to the Raiders.
Williams played college football at both UCLA and Texas Tech University, amassing impressive stats including 136 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one interception, 26 passes defensed, and one fumble recovery, as reported by AHN Fire Digital.
Meanwhile, the Dolphins are reportedly adding defensive backs Isaiah Johnson from Syracuse and Storm Duck from Louisville through undrafted free agency, according to Dolphins Wire.
