The Buffalo Bills have reached an agreement to trade their star receiver, Stefon Diggs, to the Houston Texans, as per a source familiar with the negotiations. This deal, though not officially announced yet, was initially reported by ESPN.com.
In exchange for Diggs, the Bills will receive the Texans’ second-round pick in the 2025 draft, which Houston obtained from Minnesota, along with Buffalo’s sixth-round pick in the upcoming draft and a fifth-round pick in 2025.
Diggs’ departure from Buffalo means quarterback Josh Allen will be without his primary target, ending a partnership that has significantly impacted the Bills’ passing game since Diggs joined the team in 2020. Together, they’ve been instrumental in elevating the Bills’ offense, leading to four consecutive AFC East titles.
For the Texans, acquiring Diggs adds another dynamic playmaker to their offense, complementing Nico Collins and Tank Dell. Collins was the leading receiver for Houston last season, helping them to a division title in the AFC South.
The Texans have been active in bolstering their roster, including trading for running back Joe Mixon and making improvements on defense.
Following the trade, the Texans’ odds to win the Super Bowl next season were set at 15-1 by FanDuel Sportsbook.
Diggs, who is 30 years old, has consistently surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in each of his past six seasons. In his debut season with Buffalo, he led the league in both receiving yards and receptions.
However, his production declined in the latter half of last season, coinciding with changes in the Bills’ coaching staff. Despite his on-field success, Diggs’ tenure in Buffalo was also marked by occasional controversies, including sideline outbursts and issues with team participation.
Despite these challenges, Diggs has reiterated his commitment to the Bills, expressing a desire to finish his career in Buffalo.
