The young player departed Leeds in January 2023, following his former coach Jackson to MK Dons. He suffered relegation with MK Dons, which led to Jackson’s dismissal from the club.
Nevertheless, Dean has made a strong comeback and has been impressive in League Two this season. He has scored 12 goals in 25 matches but has been sidelined due to injury since January.
Jackson has also rebounded and is building his reputation in Australia with Central Coast Mariners. Dean, who had previously played under Jackson at Leeds youth level, also worked closely with the first-team head coach Bielsa and spoke highly of both in an interview with Mail Online.
He expressed his admiration for Bielsa, saying, “I absolutely love him [Bielsa]. Without him and Mark Jackson, I don’t think I would have made it.” Dean praised the detailed training sessions under Bielsa’s guidance, citing an instance where Bielsa commended him during a match against Wolves.
Dean joined Leeds in 2020 after honing his skills in Everton’s youth system. He has been one of the standout performers in League Two this season and was reportedly linked with a move to French club Toulouse in January.
Reflecting on his move to Leeds, Dean recalled feeling the impact of joining a Premier League club, particularly impressed by the quality of players and facilities.
